Week 8
For this week, we did not have tutorial class but were given tasks to do. However, in lecture, we were introduced with Media Evaluation. I just knew that when we decided to use media in teaching, we need to evaluate whether the media is useful, meaningful, gives impact and etc. Although we might not be the one who made the media (for example, infographic), we still need to make sure it fits the purpose of the teaching and learning session. Next, I learned that when a teacher uses teaching aids in classroom, it does not end there! The teaching aids or media used must be evaluated whether they are useful for children by making sure that they provide students with certain activities and skills. Other than being absolute informative, teachers need to ask themselves some important questions: 1. Does the teaching aid challenging enough? 2. Does it lead students to have interactions with the teachers and their friends (collaborative)? 3. Does it provide some space for students to reflect on themselves? ... and much more. If the media or teaching aids answer all the questions positively, then, they are highly recommended to be used for students. This is because; the purpose of learning nowadays is not about getting as much information as possible. It is more towards the quality of learning which can produce a student who is able to think creatively and critically. Overall, I've learned something new which correlated to the previous lecture on models to create teaching aids. That's all from me, thank you!
